Why I Started Homosexual Handyman — and What I’m Building Here

Life doesn’t usually fall apart in dramatic cinematic ways.

It falls apart like this:

  • the sink leaks

  • the Wi-Fi dies or gets cutoff

  • the car makes that sound again

  • the brain says “nope”

  • and the bank account says “absolutely not”

Hi - I’m Ben.

Welcome to Homosexual Handyman.

This blog exists because for most of my life, I haven’t had the luxury of just… paying someone to fix things. Sometimes you don’t call a specialist - you call your therapist, check google & YouTube, prayer, a bent paperclip, out of spite and sheer gay determination.

So, I learned to figure things out:

Practically, financially, emotionally, mechanically, spiritually, and occasionally with zip ties.

And somewhere along the way I realized: if I’m constantly problem-solving life with $6 in change, anxiety, and a dream, maybe someone else out there is, too.

This space is for us.

🧰 What You’ll Find Here

I keep it honest and useful - the way I wish the internet had been for me.

🔨 Real-life fixes when cash is tight

Creative patch jobs, budget workarounds, “this will do until payday” solutions, and yes -

the occasional MacGyver masterpiece that really shouldn’t have worked, but absolutely did.

💻 Tech for real people, not tech bros

Cheap tools that last, free software, ADHD-friendly systems, AI shortcuts - the stuff that actually helps you survive, not impress anyone.

🧠 Mental health survival mode

How to keep going when your brain is tired, your wallet is tired, and you are… well… also tired.

This isn’t a polished influencer life.

This is Crack open a Monster or make-coffee-at-midnight and keep trying anyway life.

🌈 Why “Homosexual Handyman”?

Because we exist. Because people who can fix things, build things, hold families together, repair cars, repair hearts, and repair us, with struggles too.

Also, because I love the mental image of someone saying:

“Who fixed the sink?” “Oh, the homosexual handyman did.”

It’s part humor, part rebellion, part reclaiming space we were never “supposed” to have and part stubborn pride.

🪛 If you’ve ever…

  • googled “can I fix this myself”

  • stretched $20 across 6 crises

  • repaired something with tape and hope

  • cried, then kept going

  • laughed at the chaos because what else do we do

…then you’re home here.

💬 Let’s build this together

This blog is my way of saying:

I don’t always have the money, the energy, or the manual -but I have heart, determination, resourcefulness, and a slightly inappropriate sense of humor.

If something here helps, teaches you something, or just makes you feel less alone - that’s a win.

Thanks for being here.

We’re just getting started.

~ Ben
